Kollmorgen Products Exhibit Relentless Performance

Kollmorgen supplied the entire automation solution for the PC Express blister packaging machine for IMA-PG, a pioneer in the field of Thermoforming machines in India.

A blister is a pack of tablets (e.g. 10, 4, 5, 1 etc.) designed to hold individual tablets in place. The PC Express, 3 axis machine, is used for indexing, feeding and punching the blister.

Kollmorgen's AKD PDMM controls the machine logic, temperature, motion, HMI and drive controls for the entire packaging machine resulting in improved speed, better quality and less wastage.

Major flow of machine operation is formation of blister, dropping of the actual tablet, sealing of blister and finally cutting of the blister.

AKD PDMM brings high performance and Motion
Control into technologically advanced machines.

Kollmorgen Automation Suite™ software allows for the highest flexibility and freedom in programming. Software development was completed in just 10 days, compared to 45 days by competitors, saving valuable time and money for the client.

Currently the PG Express machine is installed at the leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in India and is running successfully.

The Impact of a Servomotor's Inertia Ratio on Energy Savings

Proper motor-drive feedback selection of a servo controlled axis is perhaps the single most significant savings element a machine designer can make for reducing the user's operational energy cost.

Kollmorgen’s white paper written by Hurley Gill, Senior Applications/Systems Engineer, presents an in-depth look at how the servomotor inertia ratio or mismatch evolved with the onset of servo drive technology and its significant impact on energy management and savings.
